Low-sodium frozen meals (FDA threshold)

This list applies the FDA numeric sodium threshold for meals and main dishes: 140 mg of sodium or less per 100 g, set out in 21 CFR 101.61(b)(5). Applying that published threshold to manufacturer figures is not FDA approval, certification, or a check of full labeling compliance.

Meals meeting the FDA sodium threshold

2 published frozen meals meet 140 mg of sodium or less per 100 g, calculated from the labeled sodium and the gram weight of the same labeled serving. Most frozen meals carry far more sodium than this, so the list is short.

Compare the bowl, not just the sodium claim

Both bowls meet the rule above. Amy's Kitchen Mexican Casserole Bowl — Light in Sodium has less sodium per bowl (370 mg vs 540 mg), but the larger 397 g Healthy Choice Tex Mex Chicken works out lower per 100 g (136 vs 138 mg) and lists more protein and fiber.

This is Amy's exact Light in Sodium variant, not the regular Mexican Casserole Bowl, and it contains milk. A retailer label lists slightly different calories and fiber; the manufacturer's figures are shown, so check the package you buy.

How this list is selected

A meal appears here only when its labeled sodium × 100 ÷ the gram weight of the same labeled serving is 140 mg or less, using unrounded figures from the manufacturer source recorded with the item. Servings without one unambiguous gram weight are excluded rather than estimated. Your own maximum sodium filter stays per labeled serving.
